The Death of the Red Roses is a mixed media piece that features Marilyn Monroe and the goddess Venus. The piece represents rebirth, as Edwards felt Monroe had a difficult life. The roses represent moments of her past, and the death of the red roses represent her suicide and death (or Edwards believes she may have been killed because she knew too much).
In this piece Edwards tried to depict Monroe as more of the human that she was versus the public figure everyone saw.
